How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

“Halo: Reach (via the Master Chief Collection on Steam) is like fine wine. It aged well - a perfect blend of old-school shooting, driven by nostalgia and backed with super solid gameplay and noteworthy additions. Case in point: dedicated servers to make the online experience as seamless as humanly possible.”

“In short, Halo: The Master Chief Collection is the title that has to give the player who is still anchored in the seventh generation the push to enter the eighth generation, an Xbox One exclusive title that promises to be the beginning of what is to come with the trilogy of 343 industries, a product that does not die in games but expands in comics, books and television series. A playable show, visual and with a soundtrack worth mentioning.”

“Halo used to be one of the big franchises that other companies wanted to kill, but 343 Industries may have done that itself with a rushed, incomplete port of four Halo classics that is compromised by bugs, and muddled multiplayer.”

“The Halo Master Chief collection is the most massive and quality port package ever. 343 industries managed to overhaul the campaigns, also very well combine different types of multiplayeres from each title while maintaining their specific style and now in 1080p and at 60 fps.”
