How this trust score was computed

Trust blends alignment (40%): does the outlet rank games the way players do; decoded accuracy (30%): after translating the outlet's own scale habits (a '7/10 means mediocre' scale is decoded, not punished), how well its reviews predict player sentiment; and player-side (30%): on games where press consensus and players sharply disagreed, whose side it took. Recent reviews weigh more (2-year half-life), and the blend is shrunk toward a neutral prior (60) so small samples can't peg the scale. Player quality is launch-window Steam sentiment, so outlets aren't punished for reviewing a launch build that later got patched.

It really feels like a cat’s journey, with some rich story-elements, and a nice balance between relaxed exploration and intense action sequences.

    Ghostwire: TokyoApr 15, 2022 · Sebastian Joel

This urban hub feels exactly like the real thing, and the game’s admiration for its background is coupled with the same level of desire for worshiping Japanese culture and customs.

    BlackwindJan 21, 2022 · Will Quick

Blackwind is a third-person hack-and-slash game about a teenager piloting an experimental mech suit to search for his dad and fight aliens. It’s fast, visceral, and mostly satisfying to play. Unfortunately, it also suffers from weapon imbalance, repetitive combat animations, and a few technical problems.

Pupperazzi: The Dog Photography GameJan 20, 2022 · Will Quick

Pupperazzi is a first-person adventure where you play as a camera with legs whose main purpose is to take as many photos of dogs as possible. It’s a very fun and wholesome experience that’s supported by a lot of free movement and simple colorful aesthetics. Sadly, it has problems mechanically that make the whole experience too easy, meaning it ends too quickly.

    Psychonauts 2Sep 7, 2021 · Jason Toro

Psychonauts 2 is more than a passion project. It’s a design that has matured over 16 years and grew into something unique. It’s not just the first game expanded upon. Double Fine has taken the first game, and had it mastered, grown, and perfected.

    Tormented SoulsAug 31, 2021 · Will Quick

Tormented Souls has a lot of subtle scares which create a haunting atmosphere, and its retro-inspired gameplay helps keep the tension high. It loses some of its horror with annoying navigation and spotlight-hogging monsters that don’t always pose a threat. Still, there’s no reason to torment yourself over the lack of subtlety survival horror games anymore.

Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of RuinAug 17, 2021 · Jason Toro

The combat system is surprisingly deep and read-oriented, which can be a lot of fun. Despite how simple it is in concept and on paper, there are legitimately hard fights that can challenge a player’s mind, even just a bit.
