How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

There’s lots to explore and more charming narrative content, as well as a strong selection of Pokémon to befriend. “Pokémon Pokopia’s Bubbly Basin DLC is a charming DLC that greatly enhances the already smooth gameplay experience given by the base game, a delightful additional town to grow and love along with the rest. While the core of the story is nothing to write home about, it makes up for it with new content everywhere else, crafting, building, and exploration. It sets a pretty good standard for the next two DLCs to come in the expansion pack.”

“True, beating the main storyline of Bubbly Basin didn't take me too long. I finished it in a couple of evenings, but I am far from done with all the extras. There is so much to do, and so many Pokémon to find. Honestly, just the fact that even as I write this review, all I want to do is go back and play Pokémon Pokopia: Bubbly Basin should be enough to show how much I enjoy it.”

“While Bubbly Basin’s narrative content isn’t super substantial (significantly shorter than the main game areas), it more than makes up for that by offering a completely new way to experience the world and by providing a place for undersea Pokémon to flourish. If the other two DLC packs can meaningfully expand the world and gameplay loop as Bubbly Basin does, then Pokémon Pokopia fans will be eating well off this fresh catch for quite a while!”

“Bubbly Basin is a rather pleasant surprise. Sure, it follows the established formula and doesn’t stray too far from it, but it’s clear that a lot of care has gone into making this underwater adventure feel like a natural extension of Pokopia. From the calming exploration and gorgeous environments to the new Pokémon, crafting opportunities and the remnants of Curellian City, there’s plenty here to keep you coming back for more.”
