How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.
| Component | Positive | Quality (0-100) | Weight (pseudo-reviews) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Press reviews (OpenCritic) | – | 70 | 16 |
| All-time Steam reviews | 64% | 63 | 13 |
| Metacritic user ratings | – | – | 0 |
| Post-patch Steam reviews (trust-weighted) | 90% | 84 | 1 |
| Calibration prior (typical game) | – | 72 | 50 |

“OddBallers provides what you'd expect-an odd collection of multiplayer mayhem. Despite user interface flaws, there are plenty of laughs on offer in this quirky affair. Just don't play alone.”

“Oddballers is a super fun little multiplayer party game that's got plenty of modes, lots of invention about its minigames, and a chaotic colourfulness that's hard not to enjoy. Grab some pals, boot into the couch co-op action here, and you're guaranteed a good time, especially for the asking price. However, be aware that in the immediate post-launch period, the online is a wasteland, a total bust in terms of finding a match. If you've got friends or family on hand to jump in, this is a great way to spend a fun few hours. For those who don't, well there are very capable bots to help you out, but the state of the online mode at launch is certainly an issue to take into consideration before giving this one a purchase.”

“OddBallers takes advantage of the popularity of dodgeball to bring us a completely fresh proposal that is only prepared to have a good time with the family.”

“With classic and customizable matches online or local up to 6 players, Oddballers when pairing players offers a very fluid cadence of matches and mini-games filled with caricata, challenging situations, with plenty of game of the woods to the mix. The constant "loop" of these mini-games in operation to the end makes the experience quite fun, in which winning requires skill but also some luck. It is undoubtedly a successful game, although not as vast in options and mini-games as a Mario Party. Despite the guarantee of "crossplay" my fear is in the creation and maintenance of a community. Without it only by local route you can survive and still may not be enough. The matches are fluid but we dispute some with lag, to the point of forcing disconnection. Ubisoft has an interesting proposal here but the future of the game may be doomed or secured by whether or not there is additional content and community formation.”

“Oddballers is a fun party game. Its 19 game modes are fun, charismatic and end up being a great option to relax after a hard day, especially with friends. Just don't expect too much from its online mode or that the experience will be the same against bots.”

“OddBallers is a charmingly fun dodgeball party game with a simple yet addictive gameplay loop that has snuck onto the scene without so much as a peep. Due to a non-existent online player base, the AI does an admirable job propping up this wonderful game that more people should be playing.”

“Despite the empty servers and some graphical issues, OddBallers was a game that captivated me with its charisma. With a unique visual style and creative possibilities in the matches, this launch deserves a chance especially if you're a fan of party games and wants to challenge your friends. Overall, here's a title with the potential to offer very fun and competitive matches just like real dodgeball matches with your friends.”

“OddBallers delivers a very fun multiplayer experience thanks to a humorous art direction and a simple gameplay that can be fun for every kind of player. A big issue is that Ubisoft showed a horrible distribution work, applying an univiting price to an experience that would have fit perfectly the free-to-play [method], launching a fun game that's already abandoned. A shame.”

“Summing up, OddBallers looks like a potentially very funny title, but with an overly simplistic realization, which would certainly have benefited from greater care both in the expression of one's jaunty style, as well as in the polishing phase. Being the idea behind the gameplay so simple we expect that in the future, with the right support, the Ubisoft title can expand its already decent content offer, coming to constitute a good alternative in the field of party games.”

“At its core, OddBallers is a fun game with an engaging gameplay loop and good enough variety to last for a while, but with little marketing, a seemingly nigh non-existent playerbase and some technical woes it’s hard to recommend this one just yet, unless you’re guaranteed have a group of friends to play with.”
