How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

“The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles is a wonderful package that will provide plenty of laughs and thrills for fans of mysteries, adventures, and visual novels. The situations and scenes make a successful leap to the big screen, and there are enough new gameplay elements to engage longtime fans without making them miss their favorite characters from previous Ace Attorney games.”

“Simply put, The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles is the best visual novel release of the year. It takes all of the series’ strengths, throws it into a new and interesting setting, and delivers an Ace Attorney experience quite unlike any other. On-point writing, excellent comedic balance, gameplay that is actually interesting, it’s got pretty much everything and is an easy recommendation for fans or even newcomers to the series.”

“For every fan out there who were passionately waiting for the chance to play a localized version of Shu Takumi's last games this is a true celebration. The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles is an engrossing and fun adventure with a unique settings, and a familiar, yet completely new cast of characters.”

“The verdict is the following: The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles is the worthy Ace Attorney series successor, with its brand perky humor and with a few of AA issues. A great choice as for the attorney veterans, as for the absurd jurisprudence newcomers.”

“The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles is two brilliant games for the price of one, and it not only gives us more of what we love, but gives us something that is visually, narratively, and historically deeper than ever before. There's a bit of a learning curve that you'll have to get on top of to meet the game where it's at, but honestly, we couldn't have asked for a better version of the game we've been wanting for years.”

“Moving the point-of-view from a lauded white celebrity to a Japanese man out of his depth is a bold move, and one that shows the glaring flaws in the court system and the inherent racist sentiment that guides it. There's not a single case that feels like a throwaway-each serves as a chapter in Naruhodo's path to understanding his own drive for his profession, and carts the player along a grand adventure that overcomes the somewhat static nature present in the original trilogy. It's an absolute must play for any mystery fan out there.”

“I had a blast with The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles. Despite taking place in a new setting with a new cast of characters, it feels right at home with the rest of the titles in the Ace Attorney franchise when it comes to overall enjoyment and writing. I really enjoyed the flow of the cases presented across these 2 games. Wherever you choose to play it, you’ll undoubtedly have a great time with Ryonosuke and the new gang.”

“Ace Attorney has already more than proven itself as one of the best narrative series in gaming, but sooner or later it needs to address the issues prevalent with its gameplay design.”

“By far the most polished and interesting Ace Attorney title to date. It perfects the formula and offers a compelling narrative that bridges not just one but two games. The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles is a masterpiece of "Courtroom drama" and one in which fans and non-fans will find a stunning experience. Heartily recommended to not only Switch owners but to anyone who owns a console on which the collection will release!”

“This court finds The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles guilty of being a bit uneven, but it more than makes up for it through the quality of the second game in this two-game package.”

“The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles is a little breath of fresh air with some new features in terms of gameplay, but also with the addition of doubled cinematics. It is not, however, perfect with the absence of a French subtitle and with several lines of superfluous dialogue.”
