How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

“If you're a genre fan, Unravel Two would be a very good choice, even more so if you have someone to enjoy its puzzles with via co-op. While some of its choices didn't quite hit the bullseye, much of the folk music clashes with the on-screen action, it offers a solid amount of high-quality content. And again, Unravel Two will leave you thinking, which is another plus.”

“Unravel Two is a worthy sequel that surpassed the first game with fun and dynamic cooperative mode, but has lost noticeably in terms of plot and few other aspects. Nice acrobatics, excellent puzzles, lots of bonuses for those who love serious challenges, and an excellent atmosphere make this project one of the best in the genre.”

“It feels like devs really wanted to make a sequel to Unravel but didn't know how to do it. They added a local coop but the story became worse. And the low amount of levels is compensated by a big amount of challenges. But did we really want them?”

“Unravel Two was already a wonderful little game, filled with heartfelt moments of poignant storytelling and challenging platforming puzzles, and now it has a fitting new home on Nintendo Switch. Even with a few downgrades to the visuals, Unravel Two is far from an inferior experience when played on Nintendo's hybrid system. Full of charm and character, it's one of the best co-operative platformers you can play anywhere, and another robust Switch port that was well worth the wait.”

“Charming design and smart puzzles that require some creative adaptation make this a great title to share with someone else”

“Although I would’ve liked more challenge in the campaign, I still had fun with Unravel Two right up until the very end. Yarny is an adorable character that stole my heart right from the beginning, and the unique puzzles that come from both characters being literally strung together made for a fresh spin on co-op puzzle solving.”

“With beautiful graphics, a charming and emotive set of main characters, an amazing soundtrack, and wonderful gameplay Unravel Two is one of my favorite games to come out so far in 2018.”

“Unravel Two improves upon its predecessor and has a decent showing on the Switch. The gameplay is as fun and clever as it has ever been, making it one of the best cooperative (and mobile) experiences money can currently buy on the Switch, even though the technical downgrade to make it feasible is noticeable throughout. If you aren't bothered by that, be sure to check out Unravel Two.”

“Unravel Two is easier and shorter than the firt game, but the artstyle is still beautiful and cooperation works pretty well.”

“Unravel's delightful sequel makes for a fun and breezy co-op adventure.”

“Unravel Two is everything a sequel should be. It stays true to the original but adds co-op which allows you to play and experiment together as you find your path through the beautiful environments. Unravel was already a very enjoyable game, but with co-op feeling as natural in this game as it does, Unravel Two is a delightful playground for fans of puzzle platformers.”
