How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.
| Component | Positive | Quality (0-100) | Weight (pseudo-reviews) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Press reviews (OpenCritic) | – | 78 | 58 |
| All-time Steam reviews | 63% | 62 | 1000 |
| Metacritic user ratings | – | – | 0 |
| Post-patch Steam reviews (trust-weighted) | 87% | 80 | 34 |

“There are much more capable racing games I’d recommend for the Switch, and unless you have some fond memories of the original game, I wouldn’t recommend this remaster until a steep discount happens.”

“The game manages to be more relevant today than 10 years ago. It's really fun, and we are glad to be back in Paradise City again! Can't wait to see what happens next in the series.”

“Burnout Paradise Remastered is the benchmark for open world twitch racers. Visiting for the first, or 1000th time, is a delight from start to finish.”

“Burnout Paradise Remastered is a lacklustre take on one of last-generation's most beloved titles.”

“Elements of Burnout Paradise are starting to show their age now, but nobody can argue with the quality of its actual racing action. If you can put up with its various niggles and quirks and don't mind the astronomical price (relative to other systems), it's easily one of the most entertaining, and certainly one of the fastest, racing games on the Switch.”

“Burnout Paradise Remastered dusts off the old game, but doesn’t stand out in any particular way, it simply is all right. If you own a console and don’t know this game, it’s a great opportunity to give it a shot, it’s still as great as it ever was. If you own a PC, you can just go back to The Ultimate Box.”

“This brings me to my final conclusion; why buy Burnout Paradise Remastered? It’s a great game, true, and it looks shinier now, of course. But really, given that the original is only ten years old and available on both PC and last gen consoles, not a lot has changed to justify the stunningly high asking price that EA have attached to this version.”

“The game’s strong core mechanics and visual upgrades weren’t quite enough to distract me from reminders that this entry may have been where Burnout veered off course.”

“Burnout Paradise Remastered does not change the formula too much from what players will remember from the original, which is good news all around, despite missing the opportunity to insert a couple of quality of life improvements.”

“If you have nothing else to play or have fond memories of the original series then this game will fill a hole in your library.”

“On the title's tenth anniversary, Burnout Paradise Remastered is a timely reminder that, like Avril Lavigne, this arcade racer can still do it better than all of its contemporaries. Seriously, there's no other like it, so when's it going to sink in? The only real downside is that the pricing's stupid, what the hell is EA thinkin'?”

“10 years after of his original release, Burnout Paradise Remastered shows how must be an arcade car game. Emotion, accion, crashes, speed but above all, incredible fun. Forget the borings cities, it's time to drive in a jungle full of activities and adrenaline' challenges.”
