How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.
| Component | Positive | Quality (0-100) | Weight (pseudo-reviews) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Press reviews (OpenCritic) | – | 80 | 38 |
| All-time Steam reviews | 98% | 94 | 1000 |
| Metacritic user ratings | – | 74 | 18 |
| Post-patch Steam reviews (trust-weighted) | 97% | 93 | 3000 |
| Calibration prior (typical game) | – | 72 | 50 |
Acclaim gate: the raw blend lands at 92.4, but scores above 88 must be earned in front of a mass audience; this verdict rests on 5,610 player reviews, a largely self-selected fanbase. As more players weigh in, the ceiling rises (full scale unlocks at 100,000 reviews).

“I Am Your Beast is a bold statement from a team known for making bold statements. A game that showcases the studio's best strengths, narrative and sparse but effective presentation, with by far their best-playing game to date. There are few games that make me feel as powerful as this does while still maintaining the fun that I Am Your Beast does. I said it once, I'll say it again: I Am Your Beast kicks ass.”

“With a simple scoring system, Strange Scaffold turns a polished action template into an improvisational ballet of spent rounds, thrown knives, and exploding barrels at a breakneck pace.”

“I Am Your Beast is a masterclass in action-packed game design. It delivers a high-energy, stylish experience that’s as rewarding as it is intense. While the story may not break new ground, its integration into the gameplay makes it more than just an afterthought. The combination of smooth mechanics, innovative design, and a killer soundtrack make this a must-play for fans of the genre. A short but electrifying ride, I Am Your Beast is perfect for anyone seeking an adrenaline rush wrapped in style. Whether you’re a speedrunner, a shooter enthusiast, or just someone looking for an unforgettable gaming experience, this is one beast you’ll want to tame.”

“I Am Your Beast delivers an adrenaline injection of action with style. The game’s intense, fast-paced gameplay is driven by its pulse-pounding soundtrack and engaging story. While a few rough edges in parkour mechanics and mission design prevent it from achieving mastery, its thrills and aesthetic make it an ultra-violence power fantasy. This is a game where every second counts and every kill is a testament to skill.”

“I Am Your Beast is a sensationally rapid-fire action game in every sense, but there's also a surprisingly well-realised thread of narrative running through.”

“I Am Your Beast is another major work from what I consider to be one of the interesting studios in the industry right now. Stylish, adrenaline-fueled action in a pulpy game that knows exactly what it is.”

“I Am Your Beast is an excellent fast-paced first person shooter that has a lot of content to get through, and replayability where you will want to keep pushing for the top marks. There's a well told and well acted story too. It looks and sounds great, but is slightly let down by the lighting in the night missions.”

“I Am Your Beast is a stirring, snack-sized shoot ‘em up that succeeds in spite of its simplified story and slightly punitive progression. Its supremely responsive controls and readily available arsenal of pick-up-and-slay weapons made me feel like a one-man army unleashed on groups of unsuspecting enemies, while its strict time-based goals and bonus objectives gave me reason to return to most of its levels to continually refine my approach. It may lack a truly unique hook to put it head and shoulders above the pack, but I Am Your Beast was still furious enough to sink its claws into me and keep me gripped to it throughout its short stay.”

“I Am Your Beast is a simple game in principle, tasking you with completing basic objectives across many bite-sized levels before making your way to an exit. Its breakneck pace means you have to think and act fast, however, and the forces you're up against escalate as you progress. Throw in a story that's gripping from the outset, and you have a first-person shooter that makes you feel a little bit like John Wick whenever you play.”
