How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

“Overall, STORY OF SEASONS: Grand Bazaar is a faithful remake with great music and fun gameplay. This Nintendo Switch 2 Edition addresses stuttering seen on the original Switch when things are too busy on screen, and the framerate improvements make the game run much better and smoother. It's like going from a DVD to Blu-ray, albeit at $10 more, as it's priced at $59.99 on Switch 2. I'd still recommend this game (on either platform) to all STORY OF SEASONS fans, and highly recommend it to fans of Harvest Moon DS: Grand Bazaar, as it is a well-done remake that carries the spirit of the original.”

“If you're in the mood for an engaging, endearing, and cute farming game, Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar should tickle your pickle with aplomb. It might not have the depth of other farming sims, but it's fantastic to control, and the well-written (and voiced) characters alongside the many tasks and calendar packed with events to occupy your time, make you feel like part of a bustling little community. I fell in love with Zephyr Town, and thanks to the satisfying gameplay and intricately connected web of rewards, I can't see myself putting it down any time soon.”

“Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar on Nintendo Switch is a fascinating blend of old and new. It takes a lesser-known DS concept, rebuilds it with modern polish, and delivers a farming sim that feels distinct from its peers. The bazaar system is the star, transforming what’s usually the dullest part of the genre, selling crops, into a lively, interactive highlight of the week.”

“It may not be the best game of its kind, its uneasy relationship with the weekly bazaar makes sure of that, but it provides the comforting, enriching, reliable farming and life simulation you've come to expect from the Story of Seasons franchise.”

This remake of the title that started it all is impressively complete and has a few new surprises in store, making it essential for genre fans. The bazaar mechanic further ups the ante and ensures every in-game week culminates in something exciting, making this one of the freshest and most enjoyable expressions of the classic farming sim experience.”

“The remake of the DS game is not a bad game per se. Thanks to the satisfying progression system based on tasks assigned by the villagers, combined with the work on the farm, a successful loop is created. Unfortunately, I still get bored after a few hours because it lacks interesting characters and challenging gameplay in the form of dungeons.”

“Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar’s charming villagers and emphasis on selling items elevate the classic farm life. Wind-based crafting, fishing quirks, and stamina hurdles temper its addictive rhythm.”

“I spend dozens and dozens of hours with the game and know that I could spend more if I wanted to. It adds new, fresh ideas to the genre while refining classic gameplay. While there are some elements I'd personally change, Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar is an easy recommend to anyone looking for a new farming game to sink their teeth into.”

“An excellent farming sim thanks to its season management, creative use of wind, and weekly market. However, its slow early progression and inventory limits hold it back a bit.”

“If you’re looking for a farming game that balances charm, strategy, and community in equal measure, Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar should be your next stop. It might not be flawless, but it’s brimming with heart, and once Saturday’s bazaar comes around, you’ll be hooked for hours on end”

“Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar lives up to its title; it’s absolutely the grandest game the series has ever produced and a perfect love song to everything great about the series, and that drew people into the franchise. At its heart, it’s fun, keeping a grind that can easily become repetitive without feeling bland or boring. The wind and the jumping offer the player so much versatility in how they traverse the town, with invisible walls feeling few and far between.”
