How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.
| Component | Positive | Quality (0-100) | Weight (pseudo-reviews) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Press reviews (OpenCritic) | – | 76 | 18 |
| All-time Steam reviews | 84% | 78 | 874 |
| Metacritic user ratings | – | 69 | 3 |
| Post-patch Steam reviews (trust-weighted) | 100% | 97 | 1 |
| Calibration prior (typical game) | – | 72 | 50 |

“Despite the fairly average story, Q.U.B.E. 2 should please fans of Portal-like adventures thanks to interesting puzzles, nice graphics and atmospheric levels.”

“The first game's innovation may have dampened the shine, but as a sequel which improves and expands on the original, Q.U.B.E. 2 is a decent option for the casual puzzle gamer.”

“Q.U.B.E. 2 is an accomplished first-person physics puzzler that learns a number of wise lessons from Portal in terms of mechanics and world building. The puzzles are smartly executed with a well-judged learning curve, while the story adds a welcome dose of context and intrigue to proceedings. Well-travelled gamers will instantly recognise its influences, but there's nothing else quite like Q.U.B.E. 2 on Switch.”

“A solid Puzzle game with great design, though lacking the length for the price it asks. It’s fun for a playthrough but over too quickly.”

“Q.U.B.E. 2 succeeds in improving upon the original in an iterative if not revolutionary way.”

“Obviously having drawn inspiration from the likes of Portal, blending a very clean aesthetic style with smart puzzles and a use of physics, Q...”

“Q.U.B.E. 2 is an interesting puzzler with tight mechanics that do a great job at challenging gamers, especially later on. It consistently introduces new elements that add a new aspect of strategy, and these elements cohesively build on top of each other, making for some delightfully satisfying and varied levels. It's a shame that the first half of the game is a bit of a slog, but even then this is still a very solid puzzler that any fan of this genre should consider.”

“QUBE 2 is an outstanding and enjoyable puzzle game that builds upon its predecessor in all the right ways, with a lengthier run-time, more complex puzzles, new elements and gorgeous visuals. Although not as innovative as Portal, QUBE 2 is a step above the rest in both quality and quantity and should not be overlooked.”

“I can't remember the last time I played a puzzle game with so many unique elements to keep track of, and it's definitely rare that I've played a game with so many puzzles that are so consistently well-designed. Out of the 80+ puzzles, I wouldn't say a single one was bad, and none of them were so obtuse that I needed to give up and find a solution online, although some definitely stumped me for a while. If a patch or two comes out to fix the performance problems in the late game, then picking this up will be a no-brainer.”

“So QUBE 2 is a smart, deeply satisfying puzzle game that makes you feel like a genius at times. It has a well thought out and implemented plot too. It’s just a shame that it’s so short lived, leaving you begging for more when the credits roll.”

“Q.U.B.E. 2 adds much to the genre, be it the gravitational power from the gloves or the puzzle mechanics. Unfortunately, though, a lot of potential is wasted, since it has a mediocre story that leaves many blank spaces and its puzzles are very easy, and therefore monotonous, most of the time.”

“Nice sequel of first-person puzzle game. It should be longer and more difficult, however it is still well designed product. ”
