How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

“Super Meat Boy is another excellent indie addition to Switch's library.”

“It's an absolute must-buy from Xbox Live Arcade and should be found on every hard drive of every Xbox in existence. While this all sounds like high praise, Super Meat Boy earns every word of it.”

“Super Meat Boy is one of the best platformers ever made. Yet that statement underestimates the game's achievement, which transcends mundane considerations of genre.”

“Super Meat Boy comes down to personal skill, which might be the only reason I didn't fling the controller through the window. In other words, if you fail, it's your fault. If the levels weren't well-designed, or if the controls were off even by the slightest bit, Super Meat Boy would be an entirely different experience. As it stands, it's one of the best platformers I've ever played.”

“As someone who originally played Super Meat Boy years ago, and has played games that have iterated on it since, I can say there’s still nothing that quite captures everything it does right. It feels fabulous on the Switch, it’s still as tough as ever, and the rewarding feeling when you conquer a tough-as-balls level never fails to put a smile on my face. If you’ve never indulged this may be the best platform to play it on as you can take it anywhere, and if you’ve played it before it’s well worth taking a return trip to Paintown, population: You.”

“Nearly eight years later, Super Meat Boy remains a master class in balancing difficulty into engaging level design.”

“Super Meat Boy is an exercise in patience. You may in fact deplore it in the first one or two hours due to its unforgiving gameplay and level design, but if you take the time to consume much of what it has to offer, you may just acquire a taste for it.”

“It feels great to be playing Super Meat Boy again, despite the soundtrack problem. I can't say enough good things about it, but you should know that the difficulty ramps up pretty steadily and somewhere during the third world, the gloves really come off. Enjoy the Warp Zone of World 5-7, kids! If you can find a similarly-experienced buddy, the two-player race is really quite fun.”
