How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.
| Component | Positive | Quality (0-100) | Weight (pseudo-reviews) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Press reviews (OpenCritic) | – | 80 | 62 |
| Creator reviews (2 tracked) | – | 93 | 1 |
| All-time Steam reviews | 96% | 91 | 1000 |
| Metacritic user ratings | – | 80 | 69 |
| Post-patch Steam reviews (trust-weighted) | 98% | 93 | 133 |
| Calibration prior (typical game) | – | 72 | 50 |
Acclaim gate: the raw blend lands at 89.3, but scores above 88 must be earned in front of a mass audience; this verdict rests on 25,559 player reviews, a largely self-selected fanbase. As more players weigh in, the ceiling rises (full scale unlocks at 100,000 reviews).

“Untitled Goose Game is a very fun project, which is nice to play together, sitting on the same couch and trying different solutions to problems. Goose is cunning and charismatic, people are a bit stupid, and the results of interaction almost always lead to comical situations. What else do you need for a chilly autumn evening?”

“Untitled Goose Game is a simple game - for some people too simple perhaps. Anyway for jokers or stressed out people it can be the best thing there ever was.”

“The Untitled Goose Game is a game with huge potential, but where the form outweighs the content. The graphics and sound design are very good and deserve praise, but it is balanced by mediocre gameplay without much depth. While the short game time or some linearity are not faults in themselves, I would advise you to think carefully about buying the game at full price.”

“Untitled Goose Game definitely has a few issues, not unlike our feather-brained hero, but you'll likely be having too much of a good time to notice.”

“Untitled Goose Game boasts more inventiveness, creativity and charm than the vast majority of titles on the Switch eShop, and offers a believable game world that's a real pleasure to explore, investigate and, of course, cause merry havoc in. Superb physics, excellent controls, surprisingly robust AI and unique presentation all combine to make this a real highlight in the Switch's library, it's only the brevity of the experience that lets it down, but this really is a case of quality over quantity.”

“Untitled Goose Game is a great game to shock your friends by playing in the unorthodox role of a goose. Longevity is the only real issue in this game, that feels fresh and funny throughout the whole experience.”

“It’s something of a one trick pony that can be beaten in a couple of hours, but the sheer absurdity and hilarity of it all makes for a short and sweet affair.”

“Bless indie developers and their ability to come up with weird concepts for gameplay that you probably never considered but upon seeing them are easily attracted to...”

“The definition of short but sweet, except you're also short and a horrible goose. Possibly too short for some tastes, but an excellent and hilarious stealth-puzzler nonetheless.”

“Untitled Goose Game is a great example of simple but very fun game. The well designed gameplay offers nice challenges and can literally make gamer laugh in most parts. Untitled Goose Game is a short game with very low repeat value, but it still is a game that everyone can enjoy playing.”

“All in all, Untitled Goose Game is a cute, short experience that is hurdled with some camera issues, but makes up for in it’s charm.”
