How this trust score was computed
Trust blends alignment (40%): does the outlet rank games the way players do; decoded accuracy (30%): after translating the outlet's own scale habits (a '7/10 means mediocre' scale is decoded, not punished), how well its reviews predict player sentiment; and player-side (30%): on games where press consensus and players sharply disagreed, whose side it took. Recent reviews weigh more (2-year half-life), and the blend is shrunk toward a neutral prior (60) so small samples can't peg the scale. Player quality is launch-window Steam sentiment, so outlets aren't punished for reviewing a launch build that later got patched.
Controversy record: on 5 games where press consensus and players sharply disagreed, this reviewer sided with players 2 times.

Outlet vs. players
Each dot is a game both this outlet and players scored. The dashed line is perfect agreement: dots above it mean the outlet was more generous than players, below it more harsh.

“Espaulga II HD looks stunning on the iPad, and is one of the best high-score chasing shooters available on the App Store.”

“Summoners War: Rush is an idle RPG featuring familiar faces from the popular Summoners War franchise, but in convenient portrait form. Everything can be automated in the main campaign, with a tower defence mode, you can also give it a go if you're looking for something more hands-on. I personally don't see how long it can hold my attention, but if the initial adrenaline rush is enough for you, then your mileage may vary.”

“Lost in Play is an aptly titled point-and-click game that's wrapped nicely with gorgeous animations and a lovely story. The puzzles have just the right amount of difficulty without any dialogue, and the game is well-paced at just under 4 hours. It perfectly captures the beauty and wonder of imagination, and reminds us all that when you've got a childlike heart, anything is possible.”

“An overall enjoyable, authentic experience for both the longtime football gamer and new one whether it's on iOS, Android, or now on the Switch. The satisfying gameplay with Switch controls combined with the off-field strategy essentially makes Retro Bowl a 2-in-1 package even with the lack of defensive play. It's a great nod to the games of yesteryear while still quenching the thirst of the modern sports gamer.”

“Milo and the Magpies is a short but sweet visual treat for fans of the point-and-click genre (or fans of cats in general). It's a refreshing way to engage in a little problem-solving on your phone without the added pressure of a time limit or the possibility of a frustrating rage quit.”

“The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword still doesn't wholly convince a decade on, with flaky controls, drab visuals, and a dull over-world. But it retains enough of that irresistible Zelda magic to warrant a place on your Switch. Just.”

“An enjoyably knock-about hack-and-slash action game with the full weight of the Zelda franchise behind it. Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity isn't clever or slick, and it gets repetitive rather quickly. But it provides a fair smattering of uncomplicated fun and a whole load of fan-pleasing nods to Breath of the Wild.”

“An inspired toy allied to a pretty bare bones Mario Kart game, Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit exudes magic at every AR-enhanced turn, though it's an expensive and short-lived sort of magic.”

“The three games that constitute Super Mario 3D All-Stars shine like a Power Star in 2020. Even with a bare minimum of sharpening up, they're brilliant games that are more than ready for a modern audience. Super Mario Galaxy, in particular, remains possibly the definitive 3D Mario game.”

“Animal Crossing; New Horizons, much like its predecessors, operates outside of the boundaries of most games. While the most tension you'll ever feel is while sprinting away from wasps, there's a warmth and comfort in the code which you won't find almost anywhere else.”

“With an engaging, lengthy story and a shockingly good technical presentation, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt easily becomes Nintendo Switch's best port, and one of the best RPGs on the system. If you haven't played it yet, do so immediately.”
