How this score was computed

The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

It's great that they've offered the Atelier Ryza (Secret) series, including all its additional content, in a single package. There are also some nice additions, which is a welcome addition. It's a great way for players new to the series to start their Atelier journey.

Atelier Ryza is an amazing trilogy within Gust’s Atelier series. Even still, this repackaging isn’t something you should rush to get unless you’re a fan or newcomer, as the new content, much like previous DX versions of Atelier games, doesn’t bring much that’s new to the table. There are just some nice extras that I wouldn’t consider integral to the overall experience.

If you own all three games but never got around to them, this collection is not worth the extra money for a few new playable characters and additional episodes. It’s difficult to justify the full price when YouTube has the character episodes and added characters are playable in other Ryza games (e.g., Serri in 2, playable in 3 via DLC), and the episodes themselves only add up to a half-dozen hours. For people who have yet to dive into the games, or stopped midway through Ryza 1, the proposition is much more attractive. Mercifully, the Atelier series went from rarely ever having sales to being on sale frequently as part of publisher sales on Steam and seasonal sales, so fans and newcomers won’t have to wait long if they want to save some cash on the definitive versions of three of the best Atelier games to date.

Atelier Ryza was the most selling Atelier game for a reason, it strikes a good balance between the complex, yet streamlined alchemy systems and a combat that is so engaging. But now with a way richer content that is worth revisiting those games for.

The Atelier Ryza Secret Trilogy Deluxe Pack unfortunately doesn't overhaul the graphics or improve any general gameplay aspects, but it does release the trilogy as a complete package. And this package includes fantastic new content such as all DLCs, updates, new playable characters, and our highlight: new episodes/content featuring various characters, each experiencing their own little adventures in the world of Ryza.

The ultimate question, whether the Atelier Ryza Trilogy Deluxe Pack is worthwhile, entirely depends on your personal interest and investment in the series. If you’re a complete newcomer, then this package is an unquestionable must-play, comprising three densely customizable adventures with endearing casts. On the other hand, veteran fans will have to consider if these added systems and interactions warrant replays. Regardless of how much you may love these games, the lack of an upgrade path from the original releases, the hefty price point, and the fact that these titles tend not to go on massive sales make this decision a hard-fought one. Still, if you decide on picking up the Atelier Ryza Trilogy Deluxe Pack, know that this is a phenomenal collection you won’t regret, with the numerous add-ons, whether they be old DLCs or new content altogether, making them some of the most comprehensive JRPG experiences you can ever ask for.

Atelier Ryza Secret Trilogy Deluxe Pack is a great package with three JRPGs that are worth the time of any fan of the genre. It's a little less worthwhile for those who have already played them, but if you're still interested, you'll find here the definitive version of the journey of a very captivating protagonist.

If this is your first time experiencing the Atelier Ryza Secret Trilogy, then you’re in for a treat. It has an intriguing and engaging story, great combat and exploration and beautiful visuals and score. If you are a veteran of the series and already own these three games, the disappointing additional story content may leave a sour taste in the mouth. Still, the addition of a new combat mode, improved crafting and exploration and solid QoL updates help soften the blow. A wonderful trilogy that could have been crafted into the perfect one.

The Atelier Ryza Secret Trilogy is arguably the series of games that put Atelier on the map for a lot of players, and this remastered collection manages to do what it needs to do to sand down the edges to make for an approachable and digestible best-hits of what many consider the peak of the franchise. While I would have liked to see this collection go a bit further in their effort to bring all the games to the same standard, I can't really argue with what's been included here.

Atelier Ryza: Secret Trilogy Deluxe Pack is a solid collection offering graphic improvements, new content, and quality-of-life features. It nearly delivers the definitive version of the trilogy, lacking only Portuguese subtitles and an option to speed up combat.

With the core games being as stellar as they are, the fact that Atelier Ryza Secret Trilogy Deluxe Pack has so many additions, refinements, and included DLC is just awesome. This may very well be the most jam-packed RPG trilogy in all of gaming and it's all just so delightful.

Atelier Ryza: Secret Trilogy Deluxe Pack is a very tempting opportunity for anyone who wants to dive into one of the longest-running JRPG series, and Ryza’s trilogy is certainly among the best in the franchise. The DX editions of the three titles come loaded with tons of content and a few improvements over the originals, though not quite enough to recommend a replay for those who have already experienced them, unless you’re truly passionate about Ryza and her friends. The inability to import save data from previous versions clips the wings of long-time fans, but the fact remains that for anyone who’s never played an Atelier Ryza before, this bundle is absolutely perfect. That said, some minor graphical flaws could have easily been avoided, and this could have been the perfect chance to finally add Italian text. A lighthearted story with plenty of intertwining threads, solid artistic direction, refined mechanics both in combat and alchemy, and the wide-open environments of the third chapter make Atelier Ryza: Secret Trilogy Deluxe Pack a highly recommended experience if you’re looking for an accessible JRPG trilogy packed with content, variety, and dozens of hours of gameplay at a great price. From the first to the third chapter, you’ll witness a true evolution. Have you always looked at the Atelier series from afar, yet with curiosity? Ryza offers you an unmissable chance to explore a new universe, not perfect, but full of charm.
