How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

“Although Song of Nunu: League of Legends Story takes place in a freezing environment, the story of these two characters and the expressions of their friendship will warm your heart. Even though the game looks very simple at first glance, you’ll find so many entertaining elements and combinations of mechanics that you won’t want to stop playing. After this experience, I fell in love with Nunu and Willump even more and developed a warmer connection with them. The story was told brilliantly, so by the time I finished the game, these were no longer just League of Legends characters with certain abilities to me, their dialogues and interactions with other champions suddenly made much more sense and took on greater depth. Of all the games released by Riot Forge, this title seems to be the best so far.”

“Song of Nunu is yet another great addition to Riot Forge's growing lineup of games based in Runeterra. The heartwarming relationship between Nunu and Willump carries this compelling narrative, while the linear gameplay along the way is well-paced and engaging. Though performance could be better and combat is a little simplistic, this is an all-around great game that we can easily recommend to any fans of old-school Zelda or someone looking for a high-quality, narrative-focused game that's on the short side.”

“Overall Song of Nunu: A League of Legends Story is an excellent single player game. It’s over in around 8 hours or slightly more depending on your playstyle and speed. There is a tad bit extra longevity for completionists who will have to reload specific chapters to get all the collectible murals and lore entries. This is a game that I can highly recommend. Riot Forge and Tequila Works have created an instant classic and a worthy addition to the League of Legends franchise series of games.”

“While not exactly as action-packed and detailed as the last two Riot Forge games, Song of Nunu deserves some accolade for being a little different in its 3D platforming and all-ages approach. Familiar? Yes, but not unwelcome in the slightest. Even the most icy of hearts will start melting and feel warm and fuzzy inside if they persevere in this affordable and solidly put-together adventure starring a boy and his magic four-armed yeti.”

“Tequila Works' latest skates by with just enough nuance & personality to keep engagement from freezing over, but its derivative qualities could tempt some into giving it the cold shoulder.”

“Whether you’re familiar with League of Legends of not, this “boy and his beast” platforming adventure is a good time”

“Song of Nunu offers a unique and immersive experience in the world of Runeterra. The game has a captivating story, a lovable duo of protagonists, a diverse and rich setting, fun and varied gameplay, a beautiful and expressive art style, and a memorable and fitting soundtrack. While it suffers from some uninspired puzzles and level designs, it is a must-play for fans of League of Legends and for newcomers to the franchise alike.”

“Although Song of Nunu lacks depth, it picks up on the charm of the character interactions and weaves a simple but interesting story that will keep you hooked right to the end. It's great fun to play from start to finish. With a lifespan of around ten hours and little replayability, the game is still worth playing if you're looking for a cozy experience or a game to play with your younger ones.”

“Song of Nunu: A League of Legends Story is a very simple game, yet it has a lot of charm thanks to its personal narrative that's easy to relate to. Undoubtedly, the connection between Nunu and Willump is the heart of the adventure. While the puzzles are fun and intriguing, it's regrettable that both the platforming and combat are very monotonous. Depth is noticeably lacking in most of its systems.”

“While I enjoyed my time with Song of Nunu, I did have a few small gripes. I wasn’t a fan of the stealth sequences; not that they were inherently bad I just am not a fan of forced stealth in games and wish it would go away. I would have liked some more time with a few of the side characters all of which come from LoL but that’s simply because I am a fan. What I really can’t wait for is the team to make a game on the Noxus Empire, specifically Darius. Oh man, he’s in the forthcoming fighting game but I really want a solo game to use ‘dunkmaster’ Darius. But I digress, as a fan of League of Legends this game is really a no brainer, but for non-fans looking for a fun, action-adventure title then you should look no further than The Song of Nunu.”

“While Song of Nunu tells a story set in a pre-established League of Legends universe, players who have never played the MOBA won't be lost in this magical journey. There are some issues throughout the game including glitches and framerate, but the musical score and voice acting is superb. A healthy amount of accessibility options also helps to ensure Song of Nunu shines for all gamers. It won't change the landscape of the League of Legends brand, but it does elevate and diversify, bringing something non-fans and fans alike can enjoy!”
