How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.
| Component | Positive | Quality (0-100) | Weight (pseudo-reviews) |

| Creator reviews (1 tracked) | – | 80 | 1 |
| All-time Steam reviews | 98% | 94 | 1423 |
| Metacritic user ratings | – | 85 | 260 |
| Post-patch Steam reviews (trust-weighted) | 99% | 95 | 85 |

“Vampire Survivors is an incredibly affordable gem that’s worth every gamer’s time. Plus, it’s extremely addictive, and because it’s so accessible and easy to control, it’ll automatically win over every player, not just fans of rogue-lite games. The game’s content is also constantly expanding, and hopefully an even better version will be released someday. Let’s hope that this will be primarily in terms of graphics.”

“Vampire Survivors skyrocketed in popularity in 2022 for good reason. It's one of the best roguelites in recent memory thanks to its gripping gameplay loop and metagame that highjacks your mind. The Switch port only adds more to love with local co-op and updated content. It's so easy to slip into a blissful sense of flow in Vampire Survivors' Castlevania-inspired, comically named levels as its ripping soundtrack and satisfying sound design propel you into the horde that you'll surely lose track of time playing it. It's a good thing that rounds don't usually last more than half an hour.”

“The fun part of Vampire Survivors is the entire package and how it all works. There are no parts of this experience that I wish performed better because it is so cohesive in every aspect.”

“Vampire Survivors is an arcade game packed full of things to do and just when you think you’ve had your fill, the game will somehow drag you back for one more game. Vampire Survivors is one game that I can fully get behind and would recommend to everyone… except vampires.”

“This addictive mix of dodge-em-up and roguelike sensibilities has many imitators but clearly stands as the best in the space”

“I’m glad that I finally gave Vampire Survivors a chance after all this time. It’s a very budget friendly title that’s fast paced, chaotic, and lots of fun.”

“You will find yourself devising new ways to turn this game into an AFK gold farmer, losing sleep over the most effective builds, and chasing every achievement like never before. You have been warned, the grind can and will consume you. You will like it. You will definitely get your money’s worth and then some more.”

“Vampire Survivors has quickly become one of my favorite games. Between two games of a big AAA title, it does its job of keeping us entertained, and we forget the time is passing. Simple and effective, it's accessible to everyone. In fact, I've had the chance to play it on all platforms. Some are more effective than others. I enjoyed my experience less on iOS/Android, as screen size plays a crucial role in our success.”

“An addictive well-oiled machine, Vampire Survivor is an engaging box filled with secrets and surprises so easily played with infinite replayability. A worthy Early Access graduate.”

“A podcast that I listen to once described the game as "my favorite slot machine", and it's a moniker I think is very apt for how good Vampire Survivors is at giving a satisfying rush of dopamine with its overwhelmingly flashy effects, absurd power curve, and snappy pace of upgrading. There are no hidden depths lurking under the surface and I truly don't know what more I could say about the game than I already have, but it doesn't need to be anything more than it is. Sometimes I just want to see big explosions, flashing colors, and numbers going up, and Vampire Survivors gives me all of that in great quantities with pretty much no friction along the way.”

“Vampire Survivors combines simplicity with depth. Its roguelite component gives it excitement and a constant sense of novelty. One of the best games of the year.”
