How this score was computed
The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.
| Component | Positive | Quality (0-100) | Weight (pseudo-reviews) |

| All-time Steam reviews | 74% | 70 | 1000 |
| Metacritic user ratings | – | – | 0 |
| Post-patch Steam reviews (trust-weighted) | 79% | 73 | 235 |
| Calibration prior (typical game) | – | 72 | 50 |

“Ash of Gods: Redemption offers a nice visual style, an interesting story in the style of "Game of Thrones", as well as tactical battles with card mechanics and great music. All this should appeal to fans of dark fantasy and tactical games. Bad controls spoils the experience, but if you love the Banner Saga and wanted something similar, then Ash of Gods should please you.”

“Well, good news is that Ash of Gods isn't a complete clone of The Banner Saga. Bad news, this game took too much from the Stoic series, to the point that it feels like a user mod, with bad balance and poor writing.”

“Ash of Gods: Redemption's visual flair and varied narrative choices aren't enough to keep a keep its tedious battle system and baffling writing afloat.”

“Odd translation and wonky combat makes Ash of Gods not only to live in the shadow of The Banner Saga, it fails to capture what made the games developed by Stoic so amazing.”

“The dialogues and some of the choice options could be both better translated and perhaps written with a bit more panache, but they are not so awful as to ruin the entire game. In short, Ash of Gods: Redemption is a game to keep in your checklist if you enjoy turn based combat, rogue-like elements, moral dilemmas, enticing art style and a solid story to boot.”

“Other than my own personal tastes I can't fault this game for much. It's gorgeous and I'd like to see more from this team and this franchise.”

“Ash of Gods visually looks like Banner Saga, but gameplay is slightly different and story is not so deep.”

“Almost every aspect of Ash of Gods: Redemption is fantastic. Pure hand-painted graphics is remarkable, and tons of texts and interesting dialogues present a vivid view of a world of war. Ash of Gods would be your best choice if you were a RPG fan who is keen on reading.”

“Ash of Gods: Redemption is a hodgepodge of a lot of interesting ideas that could've been weaved together, but weren't.”
