How this trust score was computed
Trust blends alignment (40%): does the outlet rank games the way players do; decoded accuracy (30%): after translating the outlet's own scale habits (a '7/10 means mediocre' scale is decoded, not punished), how well its reviews predict player sentiment; and player-side (30%): on games where press consensus and players sharply disagreed, whose side it took. Recent reviews weigh more (2-year half-life), and the blend is shrunk toward a neutral prior (60) so small samples can't peg the scale. Player quality is launch-window Steam sentiment, so outlets aren't punished for reviewing a launch build that later got patched.
Controversy record: on 9 games where press consensus and players sharply disagreed, this reviewer sided with players 9 times.

Outlet vs. players
Each dot is a game both this outlet and players scored. The dashed line is perfect agreement: dots above it mean the outlet was more generous than players, below it more harsh.

- 50Agent 64: Spies Never DieAug 10, 2026 · Zoey Handley
“Agent 64 is successful in replicating a lot of the look, feel, and swagger of Goldeneye, but when it comes to putting it into practice, at least when it comes to singleplayer, it doesn’t come close. And for me, the fact that the actual mission design falls so short made all of its successes feel superficial, even if, on paper, it succeeds more than it fails. You can take from that what you want. Maybe if multiplayer is what you’re showing up for, it will scratch the itch. I’d rather just disavow any knowledge of Agent 64.”

“For a lot of The Mermaid Mask's runtime, I often reflected on how flawlessly it delivers on its intent. The art, animation, voice acting, and music are excellent in the ways that support the narrative, and the narrative itself is top shelf. You may not be given very much agency when it comes to solving the mystery, but it doesn’t feel that way, and the time spent with the quirky, whimsical, but believable characters is a delight. This is one that you’ll want to investigate.”

“In a world with games like Blippo+ and Squad 51 vs The Flying Saucers, it’s possible to imagine that Geppy-X could have succeeded in finding its niche, and maybe it still can. For its time, its focus on providing an experience rather than just a game makes it a rare thing. From an audio and visual standpoint it’s absorbing. Grand, over-the-top songs about Geppy fighting against evil are belted out behind an average shooter that takes a break to tell you not to pour salad dressing in your eyes. It feels appropriate that Geppy-X got a reverent remaster, because it absolutely deserves it.”

“But that makes giving an opinion on Wax Heads a bit difficult, because clearly, it had effective messaging overall. It got through to me on some level. I think its approach to retail is really creative. It’s full of likeable characters. It’s just the narrative is trite and idealistic to the point of being saccharine. And that was enough to turn me off it completely. I appreciate Wax Heads, but I don’t see myself playing it again, and I don’t know that I recommend it. It’s time to find a different job.”

“As a means of crafting a narrative I could connect with, many books accomplish with ease what inKONBINI: One Store. Many Stories attempts. As a konbini simulator, you’re better off grabbing Convenience Stories from Kairosoft. From my experience, self-described cozy games strike out far more often than they hit, sounding nice in theory but fumbling the execution. inKONBINI avoids most of the pitfalls of its contemporaries, but that is a low bar to hurdle. All in all, it’s a perfectly nice game. An average one, but certainly nice.”

“Combining magic powers with a realistic combat setting is an inspired decision for a strategy game. It brings the tactical view and fanciful powers of a game like Baldur’s Gate 3 into the hard realism of a world beset by private military corporations. The setting is rich enough that I look forward to what Suspicious Developments does in this space going forward, especially if their next outing sees them come back with an even bigger budget for more things like voice acting.”

“Crabmeat’s horror atmosphere is breathable. Its crabbing manages to claw its way out from under the darkness without compromising it. Its outstanding work-a-day gameplay alongside a great attention to detail creates a very involving experience all around. The restraint it shows in certain areas, especially when it comes to narrative and runtime, allow it to succeed in just about every facet. I can’t remember the last time I found a horror game so satisfying, which is a weird thing to say about horror. I’m a little afraid.”

“A little more TLC with the boss battles might have resulted in a more memorable experience, but Lovish is a satisfying adventure nonetheless. It’s a timeless type of entertainment that takes a simple a premise and runs with it. As the gaming industry continues to get more complex, bigger, and frustrating, it’s a solid reminder that at the end of the day, what matters most is creating a product that people can have fun with.”

“But regardless of how other people might feel about it, Chulip is among my favourite games. I can hear and understand the criticism toward it, but I don’t care. And that’s how I feel about Stray Children. I’m not ready to put it among my favourite games. That will become clearer with time. For me, I know that despite all the trials, I walked away feeling I gained something. I’m not happy. I’m moved. The walls of my heart have been broken.”

“I’m just here to tell you that The Procession to Calvary is the strongest. Four Last Things is in between. Death of the Reprobate is the weakest. Not by a measurable amount. In fact, based on this site’s rating system, all the games are getting the exact same rating, that’s how consistent they are in quality. But I’m a millennial. I was raised with the internet, and on the internet, we like ranked comparisons, so there it is.”

“Absolum is a spectacular follow-up to Streets of Rage 4. Dotemu and Guard Crush have crafted a roguelite brawler that is the epitome of “easy to learn, hard to master,” with surprising depth that is only matched by its incredible variety. I do hope more is added on top of the game’s foundation, as I don’t think we’ve seen the full potential of these underlying mechanics just yet. Still, this is easily one of the best beat-’em-ups I’ve ever played, and it offers more than enough entertainment to deserve both your time and money. Dotemu took a big risk by betting on a totally original IP with Absolum, and I sincerely hope this is only the beginning of our adventures in the world of Talamh.”

“I think that, perhaps, roguelite isn’t a great genre for Swery and Suda to be collaborating on. I get the feeling that the genre was just a means to get an idea that they put together across. That might be okay if the roguelite was at least enjoyable or benign, but it’s really unpleasant to play. The slow, gluey controls, repetitive enemies and environments, and overall clunkiness turn it into a really abrasive experience. On one hand, I hope this isn’t the last we see of Justine and Dr. Carnival. On the other, I kind of just want to forget this ever happened.”

“While there isn’t anything wrong with Easy Delivery Co., what I find irksome is that it’s clearly made with a love of something I find so appealing, and while it delivers in some aspect, it’s breathing on the neck of greatness. It has all the mechanics down – it feels great to drive the Kei Truck through the snow – but when it comes to conveyance, it lacks a punch. One might say, it doesn’t quite nail the delivery. Oh, wait, I made that joke already.”

“There are honest strategies for maximizing your sales each day, from updating your book selection to redecorating your exterior to fit the area, but making money really isn’t the point of Tiny Bookshop. It’s establishing yourself a member of this community, and as you’ll find out, it’s not the sales that matter, but the difference you make in the lives of your customers. As Roger Mifflin put it, “…when you sell a man a book, you don’t sell him just twelve ounces of paper and ink and glue—you sell him a whole new life. Love and friendship and humour and ships at sea by night—there’s all heaven and earth in a book…””
