How this score was computed

The VGC Score is a weighted blend on a press-comparable 0-100 quality scale. Steam approval rates are first calibrated (95% positive on Steam ≈ 89.5 quality, since Steam approval skews high). Press and tracked creator reviews each count ~2x a player review and share one cap against player evidence (creator buy/skip calls pool into an approval rate, calibrated like Steam approval); all-time sentiment is capped and halved (it's context, not verdict); reviews of the current build carry the most weight when a fresh patch anchors the window; and a 'typical game' prior keeps small samples from pegging the scale. Because press reviews and Metacritic user aggregates describe the launch build, their weight decays as the game ages (3-year half-life after a 1-year grace). That's how a game that launched rough can outgrow its old reception once updates win players over. Reviews under 2h playtime (the refund window), non-Steam activations, and free copies are downweighted.

Acclaim gate: the raw blend lands at 89.5, but scores above 88 must be earned in front of a mass audience; this verdict rests on 4,913 player reviews, a largely self-selected fanbase. As more players weigh in, the ceiling rises (full scale unlocks at 100,000 reviews).

Fate/stay night is a great read and introduction to the Fate franchise, and all three routes maintain the same quality in terms of the plot and themes. Personally, I don’t think any route was bad. It just falls to personal preference. Compared to Type-Moon’s newer games or stories, yes, it can be overly wordy. And yes, it looks dated in both Takeuchi’s art style and in the Powerpoint-like transitions. I honestly found it charming though, and it works in the context of such a classic game. So rejoice, Fate fans. Our wish has finally come true.

I found the characters and voice acting well-executed, including the overall character design. The musical accompaniment fits equally well. Reaching the various routes and true endings is easily achievable without external guides.

While the upgraded graphics look amazing, and the adaptation to English and Simplified Chinese are great things, there isn’t anything else to make the game “Remastered”, For this is a visual novel, and there aren’t any mechanics or anything to remaster as the games mostly dialogue and visuals. While the price isn’t the worst, for a remaster with no real added content or value versus the original, it is hard to justify the remaster versus finding the original for cheap. However, in my opinion, the story itself is one of the top visual novels I’ve played and helps this game score high.

Fate/stay night Remastered is by far the definitive way to experience Type-Moon's masterpiece visual novel, with updated HD visuals and official English support for the first time in two decades. The newly added quality-of-life features are outstanding, allowing new players to jump into the world of Fate like never before. This life-changing novel is one any fan of the genre or medium should aim to experience.

I had a great time with Fate/stay Night Remastered. With such a compelling narrative, and truly excellent character writing, it’s easy for me to understand now how Fate became such a widely beloved franchise. The remaster provides a great entry point for people like me who are experiencing this story for the first time. I’m excited to get deeper into the series, and particularly to experience more stories featuring these characters.

Fate/stay night Remastered holds onto several 2000s trappings that may not appeal to contemporary sensibilities, but playing it most certainly brought me back to my younger days. The moment I saw the slick anime intro following the lengthy prologue, I knew this was the kind of game I would have absolutely devoured twenty years ago. Fans laud Fate/stay night Remastered for good reason and I am glad I finally got to play it.

Fate/stay night REMASTERD finally allows fans to officially enjoy the first narrative in the Fate series. For those who have always been curious about reading the VN and finding out why many consider the anime to be a bad version of the history, well, here's the chance to discover. Just be prepared for some boring moments where there are long monologues or super detailed descriptions of some things that may not be so interesting or that have already been described minutes before.

Fate/stay night Remastered is an excellent official English debut for visual novel and Type-Moon fans worldwide after a two-decade limbo of existence. The well-implemented script, gorgeous 16:9 visuals, and in-depth customization options make this debut of the Fate series its best iteration yet.

Fate/Stay Night Remastered is an excellent way to finally know a classic of its genre that wasn't available officially outside Japan yet. With an excellent discussion about morality and a fascinating setting in Kinoko Nasu's works' shared universe, this work is still a great choice for visual novel fans.

It’s amazing that a visual novel of the prestige and impact of Fate/Stay Night would be released almost without fanfare, but that’s what’s happened with this. I’m not sure we were even made aware of its impending release until a day or two before it landed. It’s the latest chapter in a game that has a long history of being a massively influential success despite the best efforts of everyone managing it. And I would argue that this tells you more about its raw quality than anything else.
