How this trust score was computed
Trust blends alignment (40%): does the outlet rank games the way players do; decoded accuracy (30%): after translating the outlet's own scale habits (a '7/10 means mediocre' scale is decoded, not punished), how well its reviews predict player sentiment; and player-side (30%): on games where press consensus and players sharply disagreed, whose side it took. Recent reviews weigh more (2-year half-life), and the blend is shrunk toward a neutral prior (60) so small samples can't peg the scale. Player quality is launch-window Steam sentiment, so outlets aren't punished for reviewing a launch build that later got patched.
Controversy record: on 29 games where press consensus and players sharply disagreed, this reviewer sided with players 17 times.

“If you haven't had the chance to play Star Ocean: The Second Story R yet, then the Nintendo Switch 2 version is the best place to start. The game plays incredibly well on the console and provides the perfect leaping on point for those new to the series. Highly recommend picking this game up.”

“Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced is a stunning remake that brilliantly captures the essence of what made the original so captivating: Edward Kenway. Though I believe the experience could have been even better with more access to the hidden blade during combat and the inclusion of the beloved DLC, Freedom Cry, Black Flag Resynched delivers an adrenaline-pumping pirate adventure that kept me hooked from start to finish.”

“Hampered by a surprisingly short play-time and some frustrating game decisions, Bubsy 4D comes up just shy of being something that everyone could pick up and enjoy. As a game in the Bubsy series, however, 4D shines as easily the best game the mouthy bobcat has ever given us, and is easily worth the time of platformer fans and those looking for a quick fix.”

“Although Mouse P.I. For Hire occasionally faces issues such as delayed access to certain abilities and the absence of a mini map, its distinctive 1930s rubber hose animation style, quirky humor, and chaotic gameplay establish it as one of the top indie-developed first-person shooters available today.”

“People of Note does its best to bring something new to the RPG genre but the final result is decidedly mixed. The game's story is fantastic, but the gameplay is repetitive in places and the puzzles, while they can be rendered optional, are way more difficult than they need to be for a game of this type.”

“After thoroughly immersing myself in this installment of the Resident Evil series, I can confidently assert that Resident Evil Requiem stands out as one of the best entries in the franchise. “Tombwater is a perfect addition to the Metroidvania soulslike genre. It did a phenomenal job of bringing Eldritch Horror to the wild west and making it a truly immersive and fun experience. Even with the issues with controls for non-mouse and keyboard users and the sometimes questionable sound choices, this game has absolutely stolen my heart with its storytelling and beautifully horrifying art and atmosphere.”

“Bungie delivers another thrilling FPS experience in Marathon, complete with their signature gunplay and player mechanics. The game's polish is immediately apparent; everything from the cutscenes to the menu designs feels next level and highly memorable. However, the game struggles with player retention—the "hook." A major concern is how players will remain engaged after a progress reset and how many consecutive losses they can tolerate before giving up.”
