How this trust score was computed
Trust blends alignment (40%): does the outlet rank games the way players do; decoded accuracy (30%): after translating the outlet's own scale habits (a '7/10 means mediocre' scale is decoded, not punished), how well its reviews predict player sentiment; and player-side (30%): on games where press consensus and players sharply disagreed, whose side it took. Recent reviews weigh more (2-year half-life), and the blend is shrunk toward a neutral prior (60) so small samples can't peg the scale. Player quality is launch-window Steam sentiment, so outlets aren't punished for reviewing a launch build that later got patched.
Controversy record: on 11 games where press consensus and players sharply disagreed, this reviewer sided with players 2 times.

- 90Resonance: A Plague Tale LegacyAug 26, 2026
“Between the stunning visuals, emotionally resonant storytelling that spans centuries, and satisfyingly varied gameplay loop, Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy impressed me from beginning to end. It ran well with basically no technical issues during my playthrough, and I just had a truly great time playing it. It’s a story and a gameplay experience I’ll be thinking about for quite some time, and that’s really saying something. Whether you’re a longtime Plague Tale fan or new to the franchise, Resonance is well worth picking up if you like a good action-adventure game with a strong narrative at its core.”

“Despite including the bare minimum amount of extra materials, Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 is worthy because of its inclusion of MGS4. This history of this important PS3 game has been annoyingly hard to fully explore because of 18 years of exclusivity to a long-dead console that’s notoriously hard to emulate. MGS4‘s silly yet poignant story and rewarding stealth gameplay have aged well and are even easier to appreciate, given how the game now finally runs at a smooth frame rate and has been touched up to look fantastic on modern displays. Peace Walker has its strengths, too, and is, despite its repetitive nature and lack of crossplay, an important entry in its own right that deserves a more modern port. Modern ports may be frustrating to see because these Metal Gear games beg for more, but freeing MGS4 from PS3 purgatory is noble and the main reason this collection is more than solid enough.”

“Even with a few weak spots, Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, in many ways, is the redemption Marvel fighting games have needed for almost a decade. It’s not exactly Marvel vs. Capcom, but it’s not trying to be. Tōkon has its own eye-catching visual style and given famed developer Arc System Works the space to flex its mechanical muscle in a different arena. Time will tell how well this game matures and evolves, but it’s clear Tōkon has a sturdy base and demonstrates Marvel — and maybe even “Mahvel” — is back in the fighting game space.”

“In a game stuffed with plants that are equal parts beautiful and deadly, it’s fitting how every rose in Beast of Reincarnation has its thorn. Said rose petals still have their charm some of time, but their qualities would be much more apparent after a fair bit of pruning.”

“Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game’s trite campaign is just one of its many uninspired or poorly assembled parts. The slapdash tutorials don’t adequately run through Legends’ many mechanics. Lacking a ranked mode means matches can be widely lopsided since most players are shoved into the same queue, and not having a true lobby system further inhibits those who want to test their might online. All of its solo modes are dull and aren’t flexible or creative enough to let players truly improve. It’s a damning list of downsides, but it’s carried by its character variety and phenomenal freedom of expression. The actual combat is a load-bearing pillar here, meaning Gameplay Group International, perhaps at the expense of almost everything else, honed in on what was the most important. Like a mix between a Fire Nation soldier and an Air Noman monk, it burns hot, but it is also rather light.”

“In spite of some drawbacks, there’s still plenty of enjoyment to be had with Splatoon Raiders. Its fast-paced combat and short levels make Raiders a great game to play in brief bursts, which is particularly ideal for those who play Switch 2 while on the go. Nintendo has found with Raiders that it can absolutely expand the Splatoon IP outside of its trappings as a competitive multiplayer series with ease, but there’s still plenty of room for improvement and ingenuity if this spin-off were to get a sequel of its own in the future.”

“The Dark Animus rifts stand in deep opposition to how naturally every other change in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced gels with the rest of the experience. From small additions like the cute cat or monkey that hangs near the Jackdaw’s wheel to sizable alterations like the overhauled stealth mechanics, Resynced does an excellent job of touching up a classic with features that feel like they were there in the first place. Ubisoft didn’t slowly swap out every board of the Jackdaw and turn it into something else; it’s no Ship of Theseus. Instead, the team cleverly fortified its existing foundation in order to ensure this famous pirate ship will stand up a little more accurately to the lofty tales that precede it.”

“Even with these minor issues, I found myself eager to return to Moonlight Peaks each and every day. After putting a slightly concerning number of hours into the game for this review, I still feel like I’ve barely scratched the surface of all the mysteries the town of Moonlight Peaks has to offer. I can safely say I’ll be playing this one long after the ink on my review has dried, and I am pretty confident in recommending this one.”

“Despite a few minor snags, though, Rhythm Heaven Groove is just plain fun. With an extensive library of single-player and multiplayer mini-games, every stage offers a unique and engaging challenge that ensures the game never feels stale. I often found myself muttering “just one more” during my play sessions because I just didn’t want to stop learning new rhythm games and challenging myself to make it to the remix stage. If you enjoy rhythm games or are a newcomer curious to give them a try, I think Rhythm Heaven Groove will feel well worth its $40 price tag for the amount of entertaining gameplay on offer. ”

“As a longtime fan of the game and larger series, this remake delivered in all of the right ways. And for those who haven’t played a Star Fox game before, the Switch 2 iteration is now the best jumping on point. While Star Fox 64 almost certainly didn’t need to be remade or improved further, I’m more than happy that Nintendo opted to return to it once again.”

“Square Enix’s love letter to old-school adventure games is a genuine delight to play, especially for players with a soft spot for the older days of the Legend of Zelda franchise. There’s an impressive mix of natural worldbuilding, impressive art design, and tight gameplay that encourages exploration – both with actually checking out the overworld for secrets and playing with the wide array of weapons and magic made available to the player. While the story may not be as impressive as the rest of the product, Adventures of Elliot is a genuine accomplishment by Square Enix that makes for one of the year’s most enjoyable adventures yet. ”

“While the overall game isn’t the longest in the world — a full playthrough only takes a couple of hours — the surprisingly emotional ending will leave you wanting more. While gamers who find point-and-click games may balk at some of the more traditional aspects of the underlying mechanics, there’s enough fresh blood in the game to keep players engaged. Constantly inventive and consistently hilarious, Crushed in Time may rely heavily on the core gameplay mechanics of the familiar point-and-click genre, but it does enough with the classical mechanics to stand out even from the rest of the games made by Draw Me A Pixel.”

“It would have been expected for IOI to stick to its Silverballers and immediately pump out another Hitman, yet the team swerved by making a Bond game with its own take on the classic British agent. This willingness to take a different path has led to a fresh 007 experience that beautifully marries the liberating sandbox elements of the Hitman series with explosive set pieces typically found in more linear action games.”

“As with many platformers from the era of the original Bubsy games, mechanical issues with the camera and controls can disrupt the smoother moment-to-moment gameplay. The snarky sense of comedy is likewise hit or miss, scratching a nostalgia itch while never fully escaping the drawbacks of this style of game. Bubsy 4D is a flawed but fun retro title that, at its best, makes a good case for 3D platforming’s modern applicability. The stronger moments of the game’s refined platforming deliver some solid fun and make a good case for Bubsy’s modern revival. If you like older platformers, this is a short, sweet, and imperfect example of that genre. Hopefully, the team behind the game gets another opportunity to continue sharpening the gameplay and addressing the drawbacks of the genre so that Bubsy can truly step out of the past and into a brighter future.”
